day at a computer? Is
the drive to work too long and tiring? Is the increased yard work a
literal pain in the neck?
Feel like your shoulders are continuously tight and lifted
almost to your ears?
Lower back weak and painful? Neck rigid and tired of
holding up your head?
If you are one of
the many who hold their stress in their neck, shoulder and back
areas, this class is for you! Come learn some Polarity Yoga
moves that will relax you all over but particularly from neck to
lower back. Breath, let
go, and allow the energy to move as intended, without tightness or
blockage. Go to the
source of your neck, shoulder and back pain by using your intention
and movement to release the energetic blockages causing tightness
and stiffness. Help to
improve your posture by these easy movements.
Virtually anyone
can do the Polarity Yoga exercises …as they mimic the movements we
make instinctively when we wish to relax, ease pain in our bodies,
and wake ourselves up. This class is open to all ability levels.
Polarity Yoga is the perfect yoga for those who may have avoided
exercise before or feel you just aren’t the flexible “yoga
type.” Every student
will have a chair to use as many of the movements are adaptable to a
chair. Participants
will receive handouts to help with home practice.
The movements you
will learn can be done virtually anywhere, like at your office and
some while sitting at a red light! Just remember to keep your
foot on the brake!
Yoga for Weight Reduction

In this four-part
series, we will focus on yoga postures and breathing exercises for
weight loss, firming, and toning the physical body. Each week
we will work on a different “trouble spot” area of the body:
legs, core/tummy, hips, arms and chest; and each class will feature
exercises that boost metabolism and energy. We
will discuss the links between stress and other lifestyle
factors and weight gain, and how yoga can help address
these.
The yogic approach
towards developing a conscious relationship with food will be
explored, as well as factors involved in developing
an overall balanced lifestyle that helps us find and maintain
healthy weight and fitness without focusing too much on cultural
ideals. In each session, you will receive handouts on the
information and exercises shared…so you can continue your home
practice. People of all sizes and shapes are encouraged to
attend! You will be
encouraged to honor your body--modifications for yoga poses will be
shown as needed. No yoga experience required.

A Night
of Silent Yoga with Luann

Day-to-day living is
often hectic and noisy and leads to over-stimulation of your body,
nervous system and mind. We can get physically, mentally and
emotionally exhausted from the noise “pollution,” even if we don’t
realize it. In this
relaxing and meditative, silent yoga practice, there will be little
talking from your instructor. You’ll slow down and become more
mindful as you move through and hold classic hatha yoga postures.
This is a unique and wonderful way to experience yoga and gain a
deepened sense of peace and harmony. You’ll also likely to have
a great night’s sleep as a result! Come to experience the
beauty and mystery of yoga shared in silence. Some yoga experience is
recommended.
Yoga for
a Better Night’s Sleep with
Luann

Researchers have found that
people who do yoga—get a better night’s sleep. That’s because yoga
addresses the mental and emotional arousal at the root of many
insomniacs’ problems.
Yoga will help you fall asleep more easily. Plus the quality
of your sleep will improve because of yoga's beneficial effect on
the nervous system and, in particular, the brain. Yoga also
increases the elimination of toxins from the body, so the body
doesn’t work as hard during sleep and deep sleep can occur more
readily.
In this workshop, you’ll learn yoga poses, and breathing and
relaxation techniques for the sleep-deprived. We’ll discuss what
keeps us from sleeping; and cover night routines, rituals, diet,
supplements, essential oils and other strategies that aid sleep.
Handouts will be provided.

member of an active dream group of Dream Yoga Studio for the past
eight years. She will
soon complete a two-year program at the Haden Institute for the
Study of Dreams, earning her certification in Dream Group
Leadership.

Introduction to "The Five Tibetans" with Luann
The Five Tibetans are known as the "Rites of Rejuvenation" or
the "Fountain of Youth." In less than 20 minutes a
day, the Tibetans will strengthen your muscular, glandular and
nervous systems, and energize your emotional body. Done in the morning before
breakfast, this powerful, ancient practice can "energize you like a
double expresso without any of the negative side effects."
The purpose of practicing the Five Tibetans is to normalize
the speed of the spinning vortexes/chakras —the seven principal
energy centers—so they function at peak condition. This permits
vital life energy (also called prana or “etheric energy”) to flow
upward through the endocrine system, bringing health and vitality.
You awaken to a “new, brilliant world of experience and
awareness.” (When the
spin of the energy vortexes slows or stops, our vital energy is
inhibited. This is another name for aging and ill
health.)

Review/Practice of The
Five Tibetans with Luann
Continue to develop your knowledge of this
ancient practice developed by monks to live longer, more vibrant and
healthy lives. Come to practice with others and share your questions
and experience. Learn about the 6th & 7th Tibetans. Discuss diet
and nutrition recommended for Tibetan practitioners. Experience a
deeply relaxing chakra meditation that goes hand-in-hand with the
practice. Prerequisite: Some practice of The
Tibetans. Or sign up for an Introductory Private
Class with Luann. Recommended: 2-hour private
session.
