The Dream Team

Meet Our Wonderful Instructors & Healing Arts Service Providers!

Experienced.   Well-Trained.   Professional.   Dedicated.   Caring.   Holistic.

The teachers and healing arts professionals at Dream Yoga are the best! They have training in a variety of yoga, meditation, massage and other holistic disciplines that are proven to enhance health, well-being and personal transformation. All have made their yoga or meditation practice, and/or the healing arts service they provide, central to their lives. For us, teaching yoga and meditation, and providing a healing arts service…is simply sharing what we love and what we know works.

Most of Dream’s yoga teachers are trained in or influenced by Kripalu Yoga—a yoga practice that teaches the basic mechanics of yoga postures and breath…while encouraging inner focus, feeling, and mind-body awareness. Many also have experience and training in using "yoga as medicine" or "therapeutic yoga.:

It is our pleasure and blessing to serve you.

Luann is amazed at what yoga can do for the body, mind and spirit. She began yoga, like many do, to better manage stress. Yoga has also helped her overcome physical challenges—including arthritis, pleurisy, a painfully swayed back, and a torn meniscus. Even more, yoga has strengthened Luann's love and sense of awe. Her goal as a yoga teacher and therapist is to inspire her students to embrace yoga as a tool to help them become healthier. To make their bodies more limber and strong, their hearts more open and joyful, their minds more clear and calm.

Luann loves sharing the gift of yoga and its profound healing effects with both beginners and advanced students of all ages, shapes and sizes in both group classes and private sessions. She wants to break down the perceived barriers people have to doing yoga...so everyone--despite limitations--can practice and receive its many benefits. She has used the tools of yoga and meditation to help people manage and heal pain (in their back, shoulders, hips, knees, feet, etc.).  She’s helped students with poor posture, sciatica, scoliosis, fatigue,  asthma, insomnia, infertility, menopausal and mensus issues, pregnancy, post-natal recovery, organ prolapse, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, high blood pressure/hypertension, weight loss, hyper- & hypo-thyroidism, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, plantar fasciitis, more.

A journalist and former communications director and university instructor, Luann is committed to personal, one-on-one communication with her students.

In 1971, she was introduced to Dr. Ann Wigmore of Hippocrates Health Institute (Boston, Mass.), and her life changed.   She began teaching yoga at the Institute the following year, and later went on to follow her dreams by studying holistic health practices abroad in Europe, the Far East, Africa and the Middle East.

In 1983, Christine was introduced to Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, and has been studying and assisting programs there ever since. She has assisted master teachers in over 95 programs at Kripalu, as well as studied with world-renown yoga teachers, including those known for their “powerful” practices—Kripalu’s Yoganand Michael Carroll, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Rod Stryker and Anna Forest. She worked as a head gemologist and does goldsmithing; and uses this gemological dance aspect of her life and interests as a fascinating connection to her work in the wellness world. Her philosophy is that each human being is a rough stone that becomes refined and polished as it goes through life, each one serving a unique and special role on the planet.

Christine teaches classes throughout Northern Virginia, and offers weekend wellness retreats in Middleburg, Virginia. Through her workshops and personal relationships, she invites you to join her on a journey of discovery to find deep inner healing, balance, and rest.

Cristina Kuhn

Certifications:   RYT-200

Provides:  Yoga Instruction

Yoga has been a part of Cristina’s life for much of her life. She began a very active yoga practice after the birth of her second child when she decided that she was in serious need of some balance. Yoga did just that. It balanced, opened and strengthened her body, mind and spirit in a way that no other experience had. After developing a strong personal practice—including studying here at DreamYoga with Danielle while Cristina was pregnant with her third child—she chose to go even deeper by completing the Holistic Teacher Training Program offered by Pure Prana (Alexandria, Virginia). It was there that she found not only her Self, but also her Dharma (life’s purpose). She discovered that yoga is not to be kept to oneself. It is a joy to be shared with others. She is excited to be sharing her joy of yoga with Dream Yoga students.

Cristina’s teaching style is influenced by many hatha yoga styles including Kripalu, Jivamukti, Ashtanga, Anusara, Kundalini, Self Awakening, as well as Restorative. Her style is also influenced by her training in and love of theatre. Her training and work in Interior Design gives her the fine attention to detail yoga teachers need to guide students’ safely in and out of poses.

Cristina's two boys are budding Dream Kids in our Fun Yoga for children ages 3-6 classes.

Diane Steele

Certifications: KYT-200, Restorative Yoga Teacher, Power Pilates Beginner & Intermediate Mat Instructor

Provides: Yoga Instruction

Diane began practicing yoga 11 years ago. She tried all kinds of different kinds of yoga depending on what was available nearby. It wasn’t until she came to America in 2005 that she realized that there was more to yoga than doing repetitive poses from a limited range…which is the only kind of yoga she had experienced before Kripalu Yoga.  Once she experienced this holistic approach and diversity, it sparked a renewed interest in yoga and an enthusiasm to know more.

Based on her experience of yoga with Sandy Pradas (a Kripalu-certified instructor here at Dream), Diane decided to become a yoga teacher to expand her knowledge and share this with others. She followed in Sandy’s footsteps and received her training and certification from Dream’s “mother ship”—Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. Since then, she has also become certified as a Restorative Yoga teacher and as a Pilates instructor.

Jon Waterman began practicing yoga and meditation while teaching the martial arts in the early seventies. Since then, he has studied extensively with teachers from around the world with a concentration, since 1994, on Buddhist insight meditation. His classes, workshops and retreats focus on strengthening continuity of present moment awareness by synthesizing mindful movement, insight dialogue, and various meditation techniques within a relaxed environment. He is one of the founding directors of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW), and has been a member of that organization’s Teacher’s Council since its inception.

He enjoys a successful personal coaching practice, and is also a founding partner of Mind-Body Health Associates, a group dedicated to bringing stress reduction programs into the community and workplace.
